On behalf of all the BEAR members, I would like to welcome everyone to Roosevelt Elementary School! It is a privilege to serve as a principal of Roosevelt and I am extremely proud to be part of such a wonderful community. Roosevelt is filled with enthusiastic students willing to learn, supportive parents/guardians interested and involved in their children’s education, and a dedicated professional staff committed to providing our students with a quality education. As a family, we are all committed to providing a positive and safe learning environment to our students where they are engaged and active in their learning.
I would like to encourage each parent/guardian to stay active in your child’s education and be involved as much as possible. I certainly understand that many of you lead busy lives and it is often difficult to volunteer at school. However, taking just a few minutes in the evening to read with your child, talk with your child about school, or simply see that your child is ready and organized for the next school day can have great benefits.
Season's Greetings 2015 - 2016

ELAC / SAC / SSC Meetings
Attending school every day allows students to make progress together with other students. A student who attends school regularly is more likely to excel in his or her studies than one who does not. School attendance allows a student to be involved in different productive activities rather than idling at home, and interacting with other students allows children to gain valuable social skills. Regular school attendance also enables older students to take exams that give them opportunities for scholarships and increases their chances of attaining quality grades.

Bear Buck Program
Our Bear Buck Program highlights students who receive a "Bear Buck" from a staff member for a variety of reasons. Mainly our students have been receiving
"Bear Bucks" because of outstanding actions that a staff member has seen students do. The outstanding actions can range from following classroom/school rules to completing assignments on time to perfect attendance. All of our students have an opportunity to receive a "Bear Buck" as an incentive. Recently, Mrs. Verduzco, our school principal, has rewarded selected students with a "treat" to enjoy with her.
Every week a drawing is done and announced with at least one student as a recipient from each classroom. This exciting incentive program has created a lot of excitement with all of the students who await for his or her names to be called in the afternoon by Mrs. Verduzco, herself. We are so proud of all of our student winners. It is everyday that we acknowledge our students for a job well-done. We look forward to rewarding each and every child as the year continues.
